Today we started a lab that will compare germination time and growth of Oat Grass seeds (aka Cat Grass) in varying conditions of saltiness. All the seeds were planted in a clear growth media, crosslinked polyacrylamide crystals, which are sold at most garden stores under the trade name "Soil Moist." Here some seeds can be seen in the fully hydrated crystals.
Some seeds were watered with a solution containing road salt (RS), while others were watered a solution containing table salt (TS). Control seeds were watered with plain tap water. We should begin to see germination by next Monday.
